 Post subject: Beware-phishing scam...!

Hey all, watch out for this phishing scam going around. I received the following "official looking" email a few days ago and forwarded it to Blizzard..needless to say, the avarage unwary noob would have clicked the hyper link and wound up with a stolen acoount. I have pasted the letter and reply from Blizzard below.PLEASE do not click on the hyper link in the bogus letter..!!

BLIZZARD's REPLY:

Greetings Paul, The email that you forwarded us is definitely a phishing scam that did not come from Blizzard Entertainment. We have recently seen an increase in these phishing attempts which pose a real threat for account security. Below I've listed some information regarding these email scams. I would like to thank you for taking an active role in helping us stop these scams, and I assure you that we will be taking the appropriate actions using the information you've provided us with

World Of Warcraft-Account Instructions‏
From: Blizzard Entertainment (billing@blizzard.com)
Sent: Tue 12/15/09 1:10 PM
To: pchas01@hotmail.com

Greetings! This is an automated notification regarding the recent change(s) made to your World of Warcraft account. Blizzard system scan to your account insecurity, in order not to affect the normal use of your account. please log Blizzard safety net to verify your account information: http://www.worldofwaroraft.net using the automated system, please contact Billing & Account Services at 1-800-59-BLIZZARD (1-800-592-5499) Mon-Fri, 8am-8pm Pacific Time or at billing@blizzard.com. Account security is solely the responsibility of the account holder. Please be advised that in the event of a compromised account, Blizzard representatives typically must lock the account. As you can see..it looks pretty authentic. Another reason to use a Blizzard Authenticator....:)
